Sydney had a ferryman called William (Billie) Blue, a real character in anyone’s language. Legend has it that he would take his passangers half way between two points and then negotiate a fare to get to the other side - or else!! Balmain loves larrikins and Rozelle loves the blues, or vice versa so we’re going to name our Beer & Blues Festival after Uncle Billy - Whaddayareckon?!! We’re going to invite Blues lovers from everywhere to come here and make our very own citizens happy. If you behave yourself, we will invite you too to join in if you are from another neighbourhood but only if you behave yourself! Aw! C’mon! We’re not that stiff! It’s just that Balmain attracts everyone like a magnet and we need to look after our local families so that everyone wins. We Love You Billy!
